A spreading multi-stemmed small tree or large shrub of untidy sprawling habit, frequently layering itself.
Upright goblet shaped flowers open from deep red purple buds, the flowers white inside and of
a uniform deep purplish pink externally: mid April.
Foliage: quite variable, but usually large and obovate, sometimes with an acuminate tip.
Recognise by: the large deeply coloured goblet shaped flowers; the rather untidy spreading habit.
There are many incorrectly labeled inferior clones with smaller paler flowers in commerce.
